Aralia (The Indian name) nudicaulis naked-stemmed. Named due to the similarity of taste to the roots of the true sarsaparillas.1

Natural history / Folklore

Called rabbit foot by the Indians and used as a blood medicine or applied to a sore.10 May be used as a tea or root beer.20


June August Leafless flower stem toped with 2-7 spherical umbels of tiny flowers with protruding stamens, Leaves on taller stalk, divided in 3 branching parts each with 3-5 ovate leaflets. Upland woods.
