Mentha from Minthe of Theophrastus from the mythical Nymph of that name, changed into a mint by Proserpina out of jealousy.


Natural history / Folklore

Was in use by the Babylonians in 500 BC as a digestive. In Europe mint flavored alcohol is drunk as a digestive. Schneider 2002. 


Some flowers in terminal spikes as well as in the axils. Smells strongly of mint.
