Was in use by the Babylonians in 500 BC as a digestive. In Europe mint flavored alcohol is drunk as a digestive. Schneider 2002.  May be the result of Hybridization of spearmint with another mint. The mints tendency to form hybrids results in a wide variation in the strength of the flavor. Medve & Medve 1990 Very pungent tasting.


Some flowers in terminal spikes as well as in the axils. Smells strongly of peppermint.
