Certificate in American Studies

Fifteen semester hours (5 courses) are required for this certificate. Up to six of those hours (2 courses) may be transferred in from other institutions or completed by prior learning portfolio.

The certificate in American Studies is intended for international students who seek a broad, general understanding of the history and culture of the United States.  However, it is open to any individual who is interested in gaining this knowledge.

Courses are available online, in small classes at your local MBC regional center, on campus in Staunton in traditional formats, or by independent tutorial study. You will need to complete all coursework with a grade of C- or better.

Upon completion of the program you receive a Certificate in American Studies and a special designation on your transcript.
