SNOW REMOVAL PLAN (Abbreviated version - Physical Plant)

Snow Removal Maps (pdf 715 kb)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Snow will be removed from most walking, all driving, and all parking areas of the campus, according to priorities established by the Director of Auxiliary Services. The Director of Facilities Maintenance will coordinate snow removal operations. In his absence, the Grounds Supervisor will assume that duty.

Snow removal will usually begin at 6:00 am. If snow is still falling, the decision to begin removal or not will be made by the Director of Facilities Maintenance.

Off duty employees are not expected to report for snow removal unless contacted by their supervisor. Employees scheduled to go off duty must contact their supervisor prior to the end of their shift to determine if they will be needed. Overtime, if necessary, must be approved in advance.

SNOW REMOVAL PROCEDURES

Grounds and Maintenance Departments will remove snow from the following areas, in order of priority:

  • Major streets, fire lanes, and parking lots
  • Walks from President’s House and Blakely House to North Court
  • Walks to Business Office and SAC Loft
  • Walks to Administration (New St. and Academic Parking lot)
  • Walks to King east entrance
  • Rear entrance to Pannill Center
  • Walks to Alumnae House

All other areas to be cleared as time permits without overtime

Notes:

  • If events are scheduled during breaks, special attention will be put on designated areas.
  • If snow should fall on weekends, priority will be put on entrances to all buildings.
  • Snow removal plans are always in force during weekends students are on campus.
