Strategic Purpose

Hundreds of people representing all facets of the MBC community worked to articulate a common vision for Mary Baldwin College as we want it to be, based on who we are and what we are best at. Composing Our Future: Mary Baldwin College 2014 represents our collective wisdom, creative planning, and commitment to our ideals. That vision requires us to be mindful of how we position MBC publicly.

VISION: To become nationally recognized as a leader in personalized, transforming liberal education.
INITIATIVE: Unite and enrich our community.
GOALS: Promote an all-college identity.
Redesign and unify our public image via the Web and print.

Presenting a unified image of Mary Baldwin College and ensuring consistent excellence in presentation is integral to achieving our vision. To that end, the Office of Communication, Marketing, and Public Affairs (CoMPA) coordinates the college's official communications, providing editorial and design services to other departments as well as publishing official periodicals such as the Mary Baldwin College Magazine, The Cupola, and the Academic Catalog.

Policies for Print Materials

CoMPA is committed to providing each office and department with graphic design and editorial content that will best serve its individual needs. In some cases, college departments may choose to produce their own materials or contract with outside vendors. In order to ensure consistency of image and message and to integrate all communications into the overall communication strategies, CoMPA holds final approval authority over the design, content, and style of all official publications and printed materials produced and/or distributed by the college, whether or not they are produced by CoMPA. Graphic design should conform to the Identity System, and text should conform to the MBC Style Guide.

The MBC Logo
All of the college's official print materials should carry the official Mary Baldwin College logo.

The College Seal
Use of the college seal, which is generally reserved for official, formal purposes, must be approved in advance by the Associate Vice President.
