A Signature Program: The Program for the Exceptionally GiftedIn any given year at Mary Baldwin College, there are 70 or more students from around the country (and around the globe) in the Residential College for Women without high school diplomas. That’s because they have skipped high school, diving right into college in a community of their true intellectual peers. They enter college at 13, 14 — rarely as young as 12 — and graduate four years later ... in some cases, even before they are eligible to vote. PEG graduates go on to the best graduate schools in the country as well as successful careers. They value learning and want it to be fun and interesting. They want classmates who like challenges as much as they do, classmates who are focused on what really matters. If this describes you, Mary Baldwin College offers you unparalleled resources to transition successfully into the world of higher education. For the first two years, you live in the state-of-the-art PEG Center, conveniently located between the library and the science center. It is a spacious and attractive facility, with study rooms, lounges, laundry rooms, and a kitchen on each floor. PEG administrators and live-in residence staff provide 24-hour adult supervision. Depending on age, maturity, and academic standing, you may opt to move to other residences on campus for your third and fourth years. PEGs integrate fully into campus life. They not only belong to student organizations, but often serve in leadership positions ... or even found new organizations. Many are tapped for prestigious honor societies, research projects, and national grants and scholarships. Far from missing out on anything by skipping high school, as a PEG your opportunities for personal growth and involvement in the community expand tremendously. |
