Frequently Asked Questions for Transfers
Q: Who decides what transfers?
A: The associate dean and registrar, Dr. Lewis Askegaard.
Q: How do I know if a course is transferable
A: Courses are transferable as long as the credit is earned at regionally-accredited
colleges and passed at the level of C- or better. The course must
be generally compatible with the MBC curriculum, but they do not
have to be identical to courses in our catalogue.
Q: Do my grades transfer?
A: No. You start over at MBC.
Q: Can transfer courses count toward requirements?
A: Yes.
Q: How many credits can I transfer to MBC?
A: You can transfer any amount. However, you
must earn 66 hours at MBC two full years of study.
Q: How do I find out what transfers?
A: Feel free to contact the registrar, Dr. Lew
Askegaard, at laskegaa@mbc.edu for specifics. Dr. Askegaard will also
be glad to give you suggestions about specific courses you may want
to take prior to transfer.
Q: How do transfers progress at MBC?
A: Wonderfully! Their graduation rate is higher
than students who come in as freshmen.
Q: What is the best advice you can give a potential transfer?
A:
- Plan ahead. Find out what classes will be
required at MBC and try to take some of them before you transfer.
- Find out just how long it is going to take
to accomplish your educational goals at Mary Baldwin.
Q. Are community college courses transferable?
A: Sure, as long as it's a regionally-accredited community college
(almost all of them are).
Q. Are trade school courses transferable?"
A: Not unless they are regionally accredited.
