Congratulations on your acceptance to Mary Baldwin College. We’re excited to have you join our community and hope that you will enjoy your time here. As you prepare to transition into life as a college student, please complete the steps below by each deadline listed.
- Test your email address
If you have made a deposit, you should receive a Gladys Guide Book and email credentials letter. You need to activate and test your email before completing any of the steps below.
- Complete all outstanding financial aid information – Priority Deadline: March 1

- Select your Gateway – Deadline: June 4
Your choice of Leadership Gateway determines both your housing location and your move-in date. You must have this complete by the deadline to receive your housing assignment and see your room during summer orientation.

- Course selection/pre-registration – Deadline: June 4
This information will help the Registrar create a preliminary schedule for you. Complete this form by the deadline to receive your course schedule at summer orientation. You may access pre-registration information here: www.mbc.edu/prereg/
- Complete your housing application – Deadline: June 4
You must agree to the terms and conditions stated in this form (Must be logged into MBC Apps/Gmail to access the form), but you will also sign an agreement, in person, during summer orientation. You must have this complete by the deadline to receive your housing assignment, learn the name of your roommate, and see your room during summer orientation.
- Register for Summer Orientation – Deadline: June 15
Choose June 23 or July 14 to visit MBC for summer orientation and receive your housing assignment and course schedule. This is a great opportunity to meet other incoming students as well as faculty and staff members.
- BAM (Baldwin Alert Message) – Deadline: July 14
This system alerts members of the Mary Baldwin Community in the event of serious danger. Sign up to receive these important notifications.
- Paperwork for Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) – Deadline: July 14
This allows students to permit access of information to their account, grades, and college activities for parents or guardians. This form may be printed out and mailed to PO Box 1500, Staunton, VA 24402 or it may be completed while visiting campus during summer orientation.
- Health Record Form – Deadline: July 14
Print this form, complete thoroughly and have your physician complete the required parts. Bring this form with you to summer orientation; mail to PO Box 1500, Staunton, VA 24402, Attn: Donna Duff; or fax to 540-887-7289.
- Schedule Move-In – Deadline: August 10
Students who are not in PEG, VWIL, or are not transfer student or fall athletes must contact the Student Life Office at 540-887-7221 to schedule a move-in time on the day of their Gateway move-in.
- Dining
Residential students will be automatically enrolled in a meal plan. Any student (commuters included) may add funds to their dining account online or at the register in Hunt Dining Hall.

- Parking
First-year and transfer students are allowed to have cars on campus. To register your vehicle(s) for campus parking, follow the instructions and regulations from our Security Office.
Thinking Ahead
As you look forward to your days on the MBC campus, consider what campus activities might interest you and what you might like to take advantage of in the surrounding community. Remember, your friends in the Office of First Year Experience are available to make you feel at home and answer any questions you may have.
