Prospective ADP Student
Nonresidential; Coeducational

1. Contact the regional center nearest you.
2. Arrange to attend an information session and/or meet with an advisor who will answer your questions.
3. Complete an application (Download the ADP application - PDF)
4. Send your application to your regional center along with a check for $35.00 and a one page personal goal statement outlining what your educational goals are and how you think Mary Baldwin can help you attain them.
5. In addition, ask all your previous colleges and universities to send an official transcript directly to your regional center.

Once your application packet is complete, you will be notified. It will then be reviewed by regional faculty and sent to the Dean for Adult and Graduate Studies for a final decision. The review and decision process should take two to four weeks at the most. You will then:

• Attend regional orientation.
• Consult with your advisor, register on-line for classes, and you're on your way!

Mary Baldwin's ADP students come from all walks of life, each with their unique goals and objectives. In the Adult Degree Program, you can:

• earn the bachelor of arts (BA) or bachelor of science (BS) degree
• obtain post baccalaureate teacher licensure
• earn recertification, alternative licensure, or teacher endorsements
• take courses for personal interest or professional growth
• take a course that will be transferred to another school
• complete a certificate program in one of the following: Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Management, Human Resource Management, Leadership Studies, Long Term Care Administration, Marketing Communication

• We know what tools adults need to be successful because we've been teaching adult students for over 30 years.
  
• Our flexible learning options include independent, group, and on-line courses.
  
• Centers are located throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and are easily accessible from most students' work or home. (Charlottesville, Greensville-Emporia, Peninsula, Rappahannock, Richmond, Roanoke, South Boston, Staunton, Weyers Cave)
  
• You will enjoy a one-on-one relationship with a local, faculty/academic advisor who works with you individually to plan your curriculum.
  
• The degree you receive - bachelor of arts (BA) or bachelor of science (BS) - is universally recognized and accepted by graduate programs and employers alike.
• ADP classes in all formats are taught by full-time Mary Baldwin College faculty. In some disciplines, classes are also taught by adjunct faculty who are practitioners in their field.
  
• You can start at any point in your educational career. There are no minimum number of college credits required for admission and you can transfer up to 99 hours of credit from any accredited college or university. You also may receive advanced credit for life and work experience.
  
• More than 25 liberal arts majors are available, including business administration and health care administration. Teacher licensure is also offered, as are minors in leadership studies, human resource management, and other areas.

Mary Baldwin’s ADP students:

• range in age from 21 years to 70+, but the average age of ADP students is 38.
• are enrolled as part-time (65%) or full-time students.
• are usually employed full-time and work while attending classes.
• are married or single, with or without families.
• are women and men.

You'll complete the same coursework as traditional on-campus students and earn the same degree - a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) from Mary Baldwin College. You can choose from over 25 majors and a host of minors.

Working with an advisor especially trained to meet adult needs, you design your own individualized plan culminating in an MBC degree.

You can also choose to complete several certificate programs, and, in addition, may earn teacher licensure in early, middle, and/or secondary education.

Financial aid is available to ADP students. Some government aid programs require you to take a minimum full-time load each semester of 12 semester hours (usually four 3-credit courses); others require a minimum half-time load of six hours per semester.

• Scholarships, including the ADP Loyalty Fund Scholarships.
• Participation in the Mary Baldwin College payment plan through the college business office.
