The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman and the Members of the Tectonic Theater Project
Directed by Virginia Francisco

On October 7, 1998, Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming, left a local bar with two other young men who offered him a ride home. Instead, they took him to a remote place where they beat him savagely. They bound his hands together and tied him to a split-rail fence. He was found almost 18 hours later, near death from hypothermia and injuries to his brain stem. Matthew, a gay man who stood 5'2" tall and weighed just over 100 pounds, died of this hate crime five days later. The Laramie Project is composed of the Tectonic Theater Project's interviews with the people of the small city during six visits over the next 18 months. This performance is not suitable for young children.
