11/20 Squirrels Win Thriller 63-62 vs Hollins

The Squirrels traveled to Hollins to face off in non-conference action. It was the first game of the year for Hollins. Hollins would score the first 2 points of the game but wouldn't grab a lead in the first half, as Baldwin grew a lead of 14 points multiple times in half. The Squirrels went into the locker rooms with a 10 point lead and 20 minutes to play. Hollins would not lose hope and would claw their way back in the second half, taking the lead on a three-pointer by Tamara Phillips. MBC would fall behind by 7 with 4:27 left in the game. The Squirrels would play steady in the closing minutes, retaking the lead for good with a layup by Krystal Churchman. The Squirrels would squeak by 63-62 with Hollins missing a shot to steal the game.

The Squirrels were led in scoring by Krystal Churchman with 18 points. Denise Johnson earned 11 points, added 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Kara Hawkins grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the team. MBC is off until they return from break with a home game vs Southern Virginia on Dec 2. [Box]
