Basketball vs. Greensboro College

The Mary Baldwin fighting squirrels faced off against the Pride of Greensboro College today in Greensboro, NC. Playing the second game in as many days, the Squirrels got off to a hot start in this one with three 3-point baskets from Christie Hamilton (Fairfield, VA), Kara Hawkins (Mechanicsville, VA), and Jessica Carter (Charlottesville, VA) help give MBC an 11-3 lead with 15:35 to play. The pride would take about 4 minutes to take the lead at 14-13. The squirrels continued to battle, but the Pride would use balanced scoring to end the half with the lead 44-25.

Entering the second half the Squirrels scored their first point with 16:28 left in the game. Facing constant pressure from Greensboro and sporadic scoring, the final score was 91-40. It was a team effort for The Pride, as 15 players contributed to its 91-point total. Jessica Carter had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Christie Hamilton chipped in 8 points and 4 rebounds. Kara Hawkins had 8 points and 9 rebounds and Iiesha Ricks had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Mary Baldwin sees action again on Tuesday 1/8/08 against conference opponent Ferrum. Tip-off is at 7pm.
