Carter Named Athlete of the Week.

Senior guard Jessica Carter was recently named the USA South Athlete of the Week in women's basketball. Carter becomes the first athlete at Mary Baldwin to be honored by the Conference in their initial year of membership.

Carter, of Charlottesville, VA, was chosen from seven nominations generated from the first official week of NCAA basketball. She was instrumental in MBC taking the College of Notre Dame Tournament this weekend in Baltimore. In tournament play, she averaged 30.0 points for the two weekend games along with 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals.

In their final game against CND, Carter scored a game-high 34 to lead the Squirrels to a 87-68 victory. In that game, she hit six treys from behind the arc and had five assists, three steals, and three rebounds.

Carter also took high honors in being named tournament MVP.
