Lindsay 2/23 The MBC Squirrels earn 6th place with USA South Win over Peace College

The Fighting Squirrels would honor their Seniors today in their last conference game of the year against Peace College. The Squirrels were looking to solidify their place in the standings and finish 2 places above their pre-season poll and maintain their winning streak.

            The game was competitive the whole way through. The Pacers and Squirrels would not have a lead more than 4 points in the first 8 minutes. Christie Hamilton would open the lead to 7 on a 3-point basket with 11:37 left. The Pacers cut the lead to 1 on a jumper by LeAnne Horne, but the Squirrels went on a 9-2 run when Jessica Carter took over the game and caught fire, making the lead 10 points with 5:55Jessica and Lindsay left. The Squirrels went into half-time ceremonies with a 44-33 lead.

The Pacers would continue to work in the second half, and would make the score 50-47 with 14:00 left to play. Baldwin would take control and have their largest lead of the game at 25, with 2:42 left in the game and finish the game 86-64.

Senior Guard Jessica Carter led all scorers with 33 points. Senior Lindsay Callison had 7 points and 5 rebounds. Christie Hamilton had 28 points and 9 rebounds and Kara Hawkins earned 13 rebounds. The Squirrels are back in action against Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC on Tuesday. Game time is TBD.[Box Score]
