Softball Logo3/21 Softball Drops Both vs Meredith on the road

The Squirrels went down to Raleigh, NC to face off against the Avenging Angels of Meredith College in USA South Conference games.

 

Game 1
The Fighting Squirrels had trouble hitting the pitching of Freshman Pitcher Jordan Smith of the Angels. She struck out 12 of 17 Squirrels that she faced in this game and didn't give up a run, sealing a 0-9 win over MBC. [Box1]

Game 2
MBC would come back from the break and take the lead in the 1st inning, starting with a lead off single by Taylor Barela. Kristina Jones would get walked and be driven in by Clausi for a 1-0 lead. Meredith would avenge the run with four of their own and take the lead for good in the game. The Squirrels would gain another run, scored by Christie Hamilton after a pitching change made by Meredith in the top of the 5th. The Squirrels would lose 2-10 in 6 innings.

Taylor Barela and Christie Hamilton both had 2 hits in the second game and Courtney Clausi earned an RBI.

The Squirrels face Sweet Briar tomorrow at 1pm at Squirrel Park for non-conference play.
