Team InfoMBC Softball
The Squirrels traveled to Averett in Danville, Va to play the Cougars on their home turf and looking to get a win and move up in the rankings. The Cougars got on the board first in the 1st inning to take a 1-0 lead. MBC held tough and tied the game in the 2rd inning when Amber Ralston hit a 2 out triple to bring in Garika Williams and tie the game. Ralston would give up a run in the bottom of the 3rd to make it a 1-2 ball game. The Squirrels couldn't manufacture any more runs in the game and with a 5 run scoring 6th inning for the Cougars that sealed the game 1-9. 4 players went 1-3 but couldn't match the offense of the Cougars. [Box1] Game 2 The game was scoreless in the first three innings until the Cougars got 2 in the bottom of the third. They would score 2 again in the 5th. The Squirrels had their chances to bring people in after stranding 6 players on base for the day. MBC got 1 run in the top of the 7th from Erika Bland who scored after pinch running for Rhonda Collins. Bland stole second and was driven in by Garika Williams with 1 out and a possible comeback. Good pitching finished the game for the Cougars and the Squirrels went down 1-4. MBC is back in action Saturday 4/12 in Rocky Mount, NC to face NC Wesleyan at 2pm [Box2]
