Seniors4/6 Squirrels Hold Strong on Senior Day vs Peace College @ Squirrel Park.

The Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin honored three seniors today at the opening of the game against Peace College. Thanks to Jessicca Brown, Rhonda Collins, and Karen Potter for your four seasons of dedication to softball.

The Squirrels gave 3 runs in the first inning but were able to get some back with hitting of their own. Karen Potter got on base and then Senior Jessicca Brown hit a Home run to score 2 runs for Squirrels in the bottom of the first. Baldwin would tie it up in the 2nd when Carolyn Majchszak would hit a solo shot to deep center field.

Peace would score another 3 runs in the 5th and the Squirrels would cut the lead again when Garika Williams and Christie Hamilton both stole home after some previous base stealing of their own and help cut the lead to 1 again.

The Pacers added another 2 runs in the 7th and the Squirrels were down 3. Jamie Edwards Doubled to get in scoring position and, was driven in by a Karen Potter double, after getting to 3rd. Garika Williams was at bat with Potter and Brown on base but hit into a double play to end the game 6-8. [Box1]

Game 2
The Pacers jumped out early in this game and got 7 runs in the first inning. The Squirrels would get three runs in the bottom of the third. Taylor Barela would get in scoring position after stealing 2nd and was brought in by a Jessicca Brown double. Christie Hamilton would drive in Potter and Barela. The Squirrels gave up 14 runs and lost 3-14 in the 5th inning. The Squirrels are back in action on Tuesday 4/8 against Guilford College at home starting at 3pm. [Box2]
