The Squirrels hosted the Owls of UMPI in a tough non-conference match-up.

Game 1
The Squirrels would get on the board first in this game as Williams drove in 2 runs and scored herself to help add 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

MBC would be up 10-4 going into the top of the 6th inning, as the Owls would come back and score eight runs of their own and take a 12-10 lead vs the Squirrels.

The Fighting Squirrels would show their determination and scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 6th to close out the game and seal an early victory.

Barela, Clausi, McFarland and Desper all went 3-5 in the game. Barela, McFarland and Desper all had doubles, Desper had a Triple, and Garika Williams we 3-3 with a 3 run homer and 7 RBIs. Amanda Miller earned the win for MBC. [Box1]

Game 2
The Squirrels came out sluggish and went down 0-2 early in the first two innings, but were able to tie it up in the bottom of the 2nd.

The Owls would continuously gain runs each inning, forcing the Squirrels to answer with runs of their own, and had the Squirrels down 11-8 going into the bottom of the 6th.

MBC would capitalize on their opportunities after getting 2 outs early in the inning. Barela would double to score Desper and Miller to tie the game. A few lucky miss pitches and some smart base running earned MBC another 3 runs and gave them a 14-11 lead.

The Squirrels would have to hold off the attack by the Owls as runners were in scoring position with 2 outs and a 1 run lead. Miller would get her final out from a grounder that sealed the 14-13 victory for MBC.

McFarland and Barela each had 2 doubles in the game and Garika Williams homered once again in this game.

The Squirrels are back in action tomorrow vs CNU at 2pm pending the weather. [Box2]
