4/6 Squirrels lose 4-5 against Conference Opponent Peace
The Tennis team traveled to Raleigh, NC today to face Peace College after playing Methodist University yesterday. The Squirrels are looking for their first USA South win and returned to a full line-up for Singles but forfeited a doubles match that was a deciding factor. The performance is a large improvement on the season.
Singles
#1 Singles saw Nicole Koiner go the distance against a tough opponent in Lauren Marion. Koiner dropped the first but won her next two sets with a solid performance. Scores were 1-6, 6-2, 6-3
#2 Singles had Caitlin Crowe getting another Match win this season against Katie Lamb. Crowe got the break in the first set to win 6-4 and handled the second 6-2.
#3 Singles saw Anna Grazynska facing Ella Dickens. Anna played tough but lost 4-6, 2-6
#4 Singles was Dasha Caron against Lucy Mauney. Mauney controlled the match and won 6-1, 6-1.
#5 Singles pitted Francis Webber against Carol Duke. Webber got the breaks that she needed and held on for the victory 6-4, 7-6 in another close match.
#6 Singles saw Gretchen Domaleski return to action and put on a good showing back from injury for the win 6-2, 6-3
Doubles
#1 Doubles had Caitlin Crowe/Dasha Caron vs MARION, Lauren/DICKENS, Ella. Crowe and Caron worked hard but haven't been playing together, losing 8-4.
#2 Singles showed Anna Grazynska/Frances Webber vs MAUNEY, Lucy/DUKE, Carol. MBC lost 8-2
Nicole Koiner and Gretchen Domaleski didn't play Doubles.
MBC lost the meet 4-5 and are back in action against Hollins at 4:00pm on Tue, 4/8 in Hollins, VA
