9/20 Volleyball team loses both USA South Opening Matches.
Volleyball suffers losses to NC Wesleyan and Greensboro College today in USA South Action.
In the first match vs NCWC, the Squirrels were in the game early but couldn't sustain the effort for the entire match. Each game was a struggle for the Squirrels to get on track as the team lost in 3 sets, 14-25, 20-25, 18-25.
Kim Clum had 18 assists on 68 attempts. Colena Roberts led the team with 7 kills, while Carla Hill hit .231 with 5 kills, 2 errors on 13 attempts.
The second match of the day for the Squirrels was against the Pride of Greensboro College. The Squirrels gave the Pride much to handle in set-1 but MBC couldn't pull off the set win, losing 24-26. The Fighting Squirrels showed what fight they had and took set-2 by the same score 26-24. An early deficit put MBC in the hole early and the Squirrels would struggle to get out of it. A late rally would be stopped by Greensboro to give them the third set. The Squirrels just couldn't get another set to take it to a fifth one and lost the match 1-3.
Christie Hamilton turned in a solid performance with 10 kills and a .213 hitting percentage and an Ace. Colena Roberts added 16 kills and 4 aces of her own, while Kim Clum dished 29 assists and added 4 aces of her own.
MBC Volleyball is back in action tomorrow vs Meredith and Averett at 12pm and 4pm.
