
9/16 The Squirrels come back from 0-2 to defeat Randolph College
Wednesday night the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels took on the Randolph College Wildcats in Squirrel Arena. The Squirrels made a come from behind victory and ended up taking the match in 5 sets. The visiting team won the first two sets 25-11 and 25- 18. In the third game Seniors Kim Clum and Anna Schueren took charge and helped lead the team to a victory to show that the Squirrels weren’t going down without a fight, winning the set 25-12. In the fourth set it was a head to head battle all the way to the very end, when the ladies from Mary Baldwin won 25-23 which sent the match into a fifth and final set. In a race to 15 points, the Squirrels and Wildcats were in a fierce battle until the Squirrels prevailed, winning 15-13.
By the end of the night Senior Kim Clum had 34 assists, Senior Anna Schueren had 12 kills and Freshman Melanie Updike had 10 kills. The Lady Squirrels will face their next opponents, the North Carolina Wesleyan College Bishops and the Greensboro College Pride Saturday September 19th, in Rocky Mount, NC. Wish them luck. [Box]
