
10/10 Volleyball Defeats Randolph, drops to Lynchburg
The Squirrels traveled to face Randolph and Lynchburg College in non-conference competition this weekend. The Squirrels played at Randolph on Friday night and won the first meeting between the two teams at home. The Squirrels came out slow and dropped a tight first set 25-27, but rallied to win the last three sets.
Marian Howard led the Squirrels with 16 kills, Melanie Updike added 11 kills, Kim Clum had 6 kills with her 32 assists while Carla Hill led the team with 12 digs. [Box]
The second day of competition had the Squirrels facing the Hornets of Lynchburg. MBC came out timid and worked themselves into a rhythm late, but could not close on the early gap. The Squirrels led 18-11 in the second set, but strong serving allowed the Hornets to rally. Baldwin played from behind the whole way in set-3 and couldn't catch up from the early deficit, dropping 0-3
Anna Schueren returned to action and had 8 kills to lead the team, Kim Clum snuck in 5 perfect kills and gained 14 assists. Carla Hill added 9 digs. [Box]
