Front Desk Superstar

The Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA will soon be seeking fun, helpful people to staff our front desk and run activities.

The park itself is unique and can take a lot of work to learn, so a successful candidate will be willing and able to learn the quirks of our 150 sites and lodgings.

A typical day at the front desk entails answering phones, running outside to catch a camper headed in the wrong direction, ringing up a sale of a soda and nightcrawlers while telling the guest the types of fish in our pond, checking on the campers in the pool, escorting an RV up to our overlook site, making reservations, checking campers in, running firewood and restocking the crates, and giving directions to nearby attractions. It's an often difficult but generally fun job that involves lifting and carrying, standing, walking, bending and stooping.

On weekends, we also offer activities for our campers, and we depend upon our front desk staff to help run them. This means leading children in crafts, teaching them games, organizing our wagon rides, and generally being fun and upbeat.

A successful candidate in this position will have a good attitude and be willing to help out where needed. "Not my job" is not in our vocabulary, and we hope to hire other people of the same mindset.

We will be hiring in March, with the positions starting in late March and early April. These positions are available through early November 2014, and we are looking for someone who will commit to working with us through the first week of November. The right candidate may be able to continue working through our winter season, as well.

All candidates must be licensed drivers with clean records. All candidates must have reliable transportation to and from work. All candidates must be available weekends and holidays, as those are our busiest times.

And we're located right in Staunton, so working with us is convenient if you're enrolled at the Staunton campus. For the right candidate, this part-time position could become full-time, especially during our busy summer season.
