Police Officer

•Participates in all required training, both at the Police Academy and, subsequently on-the-job, to learn the duties of and maintain the proficiency requirements for the classification of Police Officer. •Performs general patrol duties in a vehicle and on foot. •Conducts initial and follow up investigations of crimes and other incidents and events. •Identifies and determines possible solutions to community crime problems. •Enforces traffic laws and ordinances and investigates traffic accidents. •Arrests and detains persons. •Provides administrative and technical support throughout the Department

Required Education and Experience:

You MUST be 20 1/2 years old or older to apply for this position.

Applicants younger than 20 1/2 years old will NOT be considered for a Police Officer position.

You MUST meet the following requirements before you can be hired as a Police Officer: 1.Be at least 20 1/2 years old; 2.Have a high school diploma, GED, or an appropriate equivalent; 3.Be a citizen of the United States; 4.Have a valid driver's license; 5.Pass the written examination; 6.Pass the physical agility examination; 7.Complete a comprehensive background investigation; 8.Complete a psychological evaluation and polygraph examination; and 9.Pass a physical and medical examination. Applicants that meet the above requirements will be considered for the December 2014 and June 2015 Police Academy classes.
