Health & Wellness Promotion Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITES: This position leads and manages Behavior Change Communication (BCC) strategies in a variety of projects throughout Winona State University. Responsibilities focus on the design, implementation and evaluation of BCC strategies for health and wellness promotion on campus using social media, target population level channels, interpersonal communication, and technology. A major focus of this position is on participatory learning and action to enable the empowerment of students. Primary topic areas include but are not limited to the following: holistic wellness, health and hygiene, prevention and proactive actions for well-being, addressing emotional issues, substance abuse prevention and early intervention, and other areas uniquely encountered by the student population.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualification(s): • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Health Education • Experience in health education/health promotion, wellness, and/or behavior change communication in higher education Preferred Qualification(s): • Master’s Degree • Certification as Health Education Specialist • Licensed as Substance Abuse Counselor • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating health education programs in higher education, with an understanding of campus wellness • Knowledge of health and wellness promotion and student development theory, specifically substance abuse and college student behavior • Experience in using current technology and social media • Ability to provide early intervention programs, especially those related to alcohol and other drug abuse • Broad range of knowledge of a number of health and wellness issues unique to young adults (alcohol and other drugs, tobacco, sexual health, nutrition, fitness, stress management, self-care, mental health, etc.) The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
