Summer Camp Counselor

Staff must be 18 years old and out of high school for one year. Counselors live in cabins with 8-12 campers. Counselors are responsible for guiding campers through their camp experience – peer mediation, missing home, relationships, struggles, giggles, and fun. Counselors laugh, play, and act silly with campers. Counselors also guide and assist campers in clean up of the cabin and village.

Counselors also teach in a specific activity area during activity periods. Staff members are hired for their experience, enjoyment of, and teaching abilities in different areas such as:

Performing Arts guitar lessons and music, dance, video movie making and drama

Visual Arts arts & crafts, camp crafts, photography/darkroom, newspaper, and model rocketry

Aquatics Must be a certified lifeguard. Guards teach swim lessons, water polo, Jr. Lifeguarding, canoeing & kayaking. They also lifeguard for Free Swim and Pool Parties some evenings.

Horseback English riding lessons and trail rides for beginner to intermediate riders. Care of horses as well as stable upkeep.

Outdoors Facilitate half day trips: tubing, caving, rock climbing and canoeing. On-camp activities: mountain biking, high ropes, hiking, fishing, nature, Outdoor Living Skills, gardening, green activities (renewable energy, solar energy, recycling, etc.).

Sports basketball, archery, golf, volleyball, street hockey, soccer, tennis, games, frisbee golf, baseball, yoga and more.

Administrative staff members make up the Support Staff and must be 21 years old. Program Directors support the counselors and campers in their program, supervise cabin counselors, maintain contact with parents, and support the camp program as a whole. Each village has a Head Counselor, who works directly with both the Program Director and the cabin counselors. Head Counselors live in a cabin with campers, and focus on cabin life within their program area.

Activity Leads oversee the day-to-day aspects of activity areas and teach classes.
