Position: Graphic Designer
Description: The Graphic Designer provides purpose-driven, compelling, and branded graphic design that helps Mary Baldwin College to accomplish its strategic goals. S/he collaborates closely with colleagues in the Office of Communication, Marketing, and Public Affairs and throughout the college; manages the process of producing materials from the development of creative concept through delivery and deployment; and actively maintains consistent graphic identity and high quality standards.

Design projects may include (but are not limited to) print and electronic marketing communication materials and publications such as admissions materials, fundraising brochures, Boldly Baldwin: The Mary Baldwin College Magazine, website templates and design elements, print and electronic ads, environmental communication, and electronic and print newsletters. The Graphic Designer bids out print jobs, manages production schedules, and works within budget. S/he must stay informed about current design, printing, and software trends.

Responsibilities may also include, as needed and depending upon qualifications, development or extension of graphic identity programs, visual brand management, managing the work of photographers or other freelancers, oversight of the design budget, and/or college-wide committee work.

Entry requirements: Bachelor’s degree with formal graphic design training; BFA in graphic design or similar field preferred. Minimum of three years of professional design experience. Strong technical skills, exceptional aesthetic sense, thorough understanding of methods of visual communication, strong organizational and management skills, and solid understanding of printing processes and photography. The successful candidate will be a fast and collaborative worker with marketing focus, and excellent interpersonal skills. Multimedia design skills a plus.

Salary and level of responsibility commensurate with qualifications.

Position: Administrative Director of the Criminal Justice Program
Description: Mary Baldwin College invites applications for a ten-month position as the Administrative Director of the Criminal Justice Program. The position is half-time teaching and half-time administration. The Criminal Justice program is in its third year at MBC and is growing rapidly. Primary duties include:

  • Teaching three courses per school year in the Residential College for Women;

  • Teaching two courses (or the equivalent) in the Adult Degree Program;

  • Administration of the Criminal Justice Program;

  • Developing curriculum and student learning assessment measures in collaboration with the Criminal Justice Steering Committee (which includes faculty from Sociology and Political Science);

  • Attending recruitment events to represent Criminal Justice both for the Residential College for Women and the Adult Degree Program;

  • Advising students pursuing the Criminal Justice major, both on campus and in the regions;

  • Setting up, administering, and evaluating student performance in internships;

  • Developing and maintaining contacts for internships;

  • Representing Mary Baldwin College and the Criminal Justice Program to external communities;

  • Continuing professional development to remain knowledgeable about best practices in Criminal Justice education programs;

Required Qualifications:

  • Appropriate advanced degree from an accredited college in a law enforcement-related field;

  • Significant leadership experience in a law enforcement organization with a record of increasing responsibilities;

  • Demonstrated administrative experience and ability;

  • Significant experience teaching at the college level;

  • Knowledge of best practices in collegiate Criminal Justice Programs;

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the modern police organization;

  • Excellent communication and networking skills;

Position: System Administrator
Description: We are looking for a SystemsAdministrator who will maintain the smooth operation of the College’s enterprise server computing environment by identifying system requirements, monitoring system performance, and installing upgrades. Mary Baldwin College has a mix of stand-alone and virtualized Windows 2003-2008 servers running Active Directory, a Cisco-based network with Network Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Bandwidth Shaping systems.

Duties:

  • Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; and designing system infrastructure.

  • Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of
    PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management
