Fall 2012 Internship Commences for Career Athletes
Olathe, Kan.- Career Athletes begins its fifth semester with on-campus interns at 172 universities across the nation.
This semester marks a record-breaking number of student-athletes participating in the internship program, and Internship Director Kim Pence said she is looking forward to seeing the progress these interns make.
"This internship is a great applied learning tool for student-athletes," Pence said. "While the interns work for Career Athletes, they have goals they must reach that push them outside their comfort zone to learn how to utilize their athletic assets in a job setting."
Each university has one on-campus intern whose responsibility it is to spread the word and awareness about Career Athletes to his or her fellow athletes.
"The interns work hard to help Career Athletes grow and to teach their friends and other athletes how to effectively utilize the network," Pence said.
Pence said the interns are an invaluable resource in making sure that athletes across the country are aware of the opportunities available through Career Athletes.
"In return for all of their hard work, all interns who achieve their goals are eligible to have their résumé included in our official Career Athletes Résumé Book that we send to all of our partner employers and athletic departments," Pence said.
A select group of top-performing interns will have the opportunity to interview with one of Career Athletes' Fortune 500 partners.
