Public Safety Dispatcher
Public Safety Dispatchers serve a vital role in the City’s public services. This is a perfect opportunity to join an outstanding team and take part in a rewarding career. Dispatchers receive emergency and non-emergency calls, by radio and telephone, from citizens and public safety personnel, dispatch police, fire, and EMS in response to the identified need and accurately document all related incidents. Position requires the dispatcher to become certified in emergency medical dispatch (EMD) instructions to 911 callers involving critical illness or injury, the ability to work in stressful situations, prioritize tasks, make decisions quickly and have strict attention to detail. Excellent organizational, keyboarding, computing, customer service skills, the ability to adapt to change and the ability to work in a team environment required. Must be able to work a 12-hour shift: 7pm to 7am or 7am to 7pm, including weekends and holidays. Starting annual salary: $28,187. Hiring process requires successful completion of application, written test(s), interview(s) and background investigation, including a past free from felony conviction or crime(s) involving moral turpitude.
