Early College Academy
The Early College Academy at Mary Baldwin College offers the opportunity for bright 16- and 17-year-old students to complete their high school degree requirements in tandem with college courses.
Students in the Early College Academy reside together in a freshmen residence hall that they share with other students in the Honors Gateway. In her sophomore year, the Early College Academy student participates in room lottery with all residential students and may elect to live on the sophomore honors floor in McClung Hall.
The Early College Academy was built on the success of MBC's Program for the Exceptionally Gifted, which has served students as young as 13 since 1985. Both programs are based on not only current research in educating gifted students, but evaluations by faculty and staff and feedback from student and parents.
