   Gordon Smyth Former College Trustee and Benefactor Dies
Former Mary Baldwin College Trustee H. Gordon Smyth — a motivating force for the college and Staunton for decades — passed away December 4 at age 84.
  Marjorie Chambers Professor Emerita Marjorie Chambers
Marjorie Chambers, professor emerita of philosophy and religion at Mary Baldwin College, passed away January 6 at age 89. She was a beloved member of the college community and a teacher passionate about her subject and her students.

New Menu, New Look in New Year for Dining Services
As part of its continuing partnership with dining services provider Chartwells, Mary Baldwin College received new furniture and serving bars during winter break to give the dining hall an updated look. Diners have responded well to the changes, said Director of Dining Services Tracy Hiner.

Retired Army Colonel Melissa E. Patrick ’78 is a trailblazer with an impressive resume. And now she’s back on campus, joining the administrative ranks at the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership as deputy commandant.

  • MAKE PLANS TO REUNITE: Look for your official Reunion 2012 packets in the mail soon, and be sure to send in your registration by March 12. In the meantime, let your classmates know that you’re planning to come by signing up online.
  • RESOLVE TO GIVE IN 2012: Whether you are a longtime donor, or you have been waiting for a good reason to start, making a resolution to give to MBC this year will make you feel good (maybe even better than that resolution to eat healthier and exercise more often)!
  • JOIN US ON THE JOURNEY: President Fox invites you to share stories and learn about the college's future plans at two upcoming events. The Patrick Henry Hotel in Roanoke will host a gathering February 9, and alumna Lady Appleby Bird ’68 will open her Nashville home for a cocktail reception on February 23.
