  Pearce rendering > Carpenter Foundation Gives $2 Million for Pearce Renovation
A significant contribution from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation will fund common areas on the third floor of Pearce Science Center and propel additional fundraising for the building's multi-million-dollar renovation.

Ever Ahead: Ever Scholarly
Professor Emerita of Philosophy and Religion  Marjorie Chambers, who passed away in January 2012, designated a large portion of her estate to establish a scholarship endowment in memory of her mother-in law. The Lorna Beers Chambers scholarship will be awarded to students with excellent overall academic records.   SACS > MBC Achieves New Level of Accreditation
A vote this fall by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges places Mary Baldwin College on track to achieve that organization's second-highest level of accreditation and the ability to award doctoral degrees in up to three academic or professional disciplines.

  Teacher > Graduate Program Continues Expansion
At its December meeting, the Mary Baldwin College faculty voted to approve two new concentrations within Graduate Teacher Education (GTE), further expanding an already growing program and preparing students for in-demand jobs.
  Atchley > Atchley Leaves Leadership Position
Vice President of Institutional Advancement David M. Atchley announced recently that has was stepping away from his position at MBC to pursue other opportunities. The college is conducting a nationwide search for a permanent successor.
