A small, up-and-coming company founded in 2001, TerraCycle makes use of products that are often challenging to recycle. On the Mary Baldwin campus, it is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

Last April, Steve Grande, director of the Spencer Center for Civic and Global Engagement at Mary Baldwin College, led his students in a dramatic recycling exercise. They dug through the garbage from four campus dormitories and were able to recycle about 40 percent of what they found.

Hawa Omar and Nourhan El Koptan help make up a community of 12 American and international Muslim students from about eight different countries at Mary Baldwin College. Staunton Jewish Film Festival

With the theme Community Diversity, the festival will be held February 5 and 6 in Francis Auditorium at Mary Baldwin College. Now in its fourth year, the event features five films that explore cross-cultural relationships, love, religion, and family. Each will be followed by a discussion. The festival is sponsored by Temple House of Israel and the Spencer Center at Mary Baldwin College.
