On May 13, Mary Baldwin College’s one-day social media fundraiser — a Day to Lead the Way — engaged 541 donors and raised $74,000 for the Baldwin Fund, which helps retain outstanding faculty and advisors, supports maintenance of MBC’s historic campus and regional centers, provides for academic scholarships, and enriches student life.

As part of the Ever Ahead campaign, the college is seeking construction bids for a phased renovation plan for the Alumnae House, and work should begin within a few months. Before kicking off the full-scale renovation, Baber Enterprises completed preliminary roof repairs in February.

Thanks to a sponsorship from Augusta Health, MBC is set to begin development of a bachelor of science in nursing degree completion program that will help registered nurses at Augusta Health and throughout the region to meet increasingly rigorous educational requirements.

Mary Baldwin College ended the fiscal year exceeding its $1.65 million goal for the 2013 Baldwin Fund, the institution’s annual fundraising effort and part of its larger fundraising initiative, Ever Ahead: The Campaign for Mary Baldwin College. The MBC Office of Institutional Advancement raised nearly  $1.7 million through June 30.

Time and again, Bertie Murphy Deming Smith has made generous gifts to hep the college thrive and to invest in future generations of confident, compassionate changemakers. Her most recent gift of $15 million is the largest in Mary Baldwin History, and markes the beginning of a new college of heath sciences.
