Time and again, Bertie Murphy Deming Smith has made generous gifts to hep the college thrive and to invest in future generations of confident, compassionate changemakers. Her most recent gift of $15 million is the largest in Mary Baldwin History, and markes the beginning of a new college of heath sciences.
Campus Infrastructure Project Draws to a Close
The funds for the summer overhaul came from the college’s capital improvements budget and a generous estate gift — close to $1.2 million — from alumna Frances Tullis ’45.

First Phase of Pearce Renovation Complete
“I really prefer the space to where we had class and lab last semester,” said physics student Sasha Boyer ’14 who will be conducting research in Pearce this summer. “It is better situated for cooperation because of the way the tables are set up and it’s just nice to have our own dedicated space.”
