British Broadcasting Corporation  Extensive British, International and European News.  Audio and print components.

ITN.  Independent television news from London feature 24 hour live audio, video and also provides transcripts of nightly news, background reports, and many other features dealing with British politics, government, and life in the UK.  Extensive international coverage as well.

London Sunday Times.  Provides news, analysis and reliable coverage of politics from a Conservative point of view.  Its somewhat less extensive online daily edition of the Times also informs well.  Fee charged to users.

The Guardian, formerly the Manchester Guardian, online edition provides news and analysis of politics from a generally left wing (and increasingly anti-U.S.) point of view.

Economist magazine.  Online edition of the respected news and business weekly.  Features extensive international news coverage and substantial focus on business issues.  Covers and offers opinions on British politics as well. Registration required

10 Downing Street.  Official website of the executive in British Government.  Extensive, but not comprehensive, information is found highlighting the activities of the Prime Minister, and his agenda.

Official British Government website provides comprehensive links to all public sector entities and departments, and extensive official information on a wide variety of subjects.

Houses of Parliament.  Official website of the British Legislature.  Includes link to House of Commons web site where background information, membership lists, fact sheets, and links to some MPs' websites may be found.

House of Lords. Provides agendas, publications, Select Committees' reports, etc.
 

Political Parties

Labour Party.Official website of Britain's ruling political party.  

Conservative Party.  Official website of the leading British opposition party.  Provides Party ideas and responses to current issues in Government legislation and policy.

Liberal Democratic Party: profiles of its leader and front bench MPs (2005)

Democratic Unionist Party: Leading pro-U.K. party in Northern Ireland.

Sinn Fein.  Leading Nationalist party in Northern Ireland.  Its elected MPs have at times in the past refused to take their seats in the House of Commons.
