Description: Put your walking shoes on and prepare for an adventure in art and science! These courses of study exceed an introductory tour, For art history, it is the culmination of an art history course of study. For science, it reiterates the role of Italian scientists in developing the discipline. Students travel with a small, congenial, well-prepared group. Dr. James and Dr. Allison plan and accompany the group to art and science sites as well as to other points of interest. Students participate by giving two presentations each on topics they have researched during the prior semester. They experience Italian life and culture first hand and keep a journal of their experiences and responses to the art. Over the last eighteen years, Dr. James has led over a dozen groups of Mary Baldwin College students to Italy and Northern Europe to study art and architecture in the settings for which the objects were created. Dr. Allison has also traveled to Italy --- by bicycle, no less! This unique and very special course is usuallyoffered in even years. Plan ahead! Don't miss this opportunity!
