We help you take advantage of every opportunity to fund your education. More than 90% of our new students entering in fall 2009 will receive $88,000 in financial aid over four years including scholarships, grants, loans, and work study. With respect to the current economic climate, in February of 2009 MBC also created and announced our Student Stimulus Package. Your award package may include:
Scholarships. Merit awards of up to $13,000 are available to new students. Use the Scholarship Calculator to estimate your award.
Julia’s List. Named in honor of the college’s 19th-century leader Mary Julia Baldwin, this list is comprised of returning students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Based on both merit and need, the fund will offer assistance so that they may continue their momentum at MBC.
Leadership Gateway Awards. All entering freshmen are eligible to participate in a Baldwin Leadership Gateway, in which all participants receive a talent award of $2,000.
Federal Grants. Grants are based on need — and starting in 2009-10, many more students are eligible for assistance than ever before. You must complete the FAFSA to receive these grants.
State Grants. If you are a Virginia resident you will receive a grant of approximately $3,000. The State will advise colleges of the exact amount during the academic year. Complete the TAG (Tuition Assistance Grant) form (PDF). It is easy to apply and you do not pay it back.
ROTC scholarships. If you are in the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership (VWIL), one of Mary Baldwin’s leadership gateways, you may apply for a ROTC scholarship as a high school senior or after your enrollment at MBC. Contact vwil@mbc.edu for more information.
Work-study. Jobs at Mary Baldwin College are designed to help you build your career while earning additional money. Most students on work-study earn at least $1,740 a year. Our new Changmakers initiative offers gratifying community service jobs. Click here for more info.
Loans. A variety of low-interest loans are available. Our financial aid office will help you determine which are right for you. For more information regarding loans, including our lender code of conduct, please click here. If you have questions, Contact us now.
