“My name is Crystal Scheulen and I graduated from MBC in 2000. I am working as a French teacher in Frederick County, Virginia at Sherando High School. I am the sole French teacher, therefore I teach all five levels offered at the school. I also sponsor the French Club. Majoring in French was an obvious aid in my career in teaching French. Upon graduating from MBC, I was going to work for the government, but one of the assistant principals called me, told me of the opening (because my former French teacher was leaving) and I accepted the position. My experience in taking French at MBC was nothing but positive both in my career and in life. I was fortunate enough to have two fantastic and patient advisors (Dr. Walker and Dr. McGovern) who made sure that the training/education I received was of the highest quality. They are two of the most intelligent and kind women I know and will never forget. I spent a May Term abroad with Dr. Walker and returned to the U.S. a changed woman; independent and confident. During that time I studied French theater and was able to visit some of the famous theaters in Paris and live with a Parisian family. I’ve not been the same since. My major in French at MBC is one of the best things that I’ve done for myself!”
