Freshmen Fears
The most common fears reported by freshmen during their first week of college:
- I will not have enough money to do all the things I want to do.
- I will not be able to manage my time for studying, meals, sleeping, and exercise.
- I will have difficulty making friends.
- I will have difficulty in romantic relationships
- I will become depressed, and this will affect my ability to make good grades.
- College will be too difficult for me.
- I don’t feel as if I should be in college.
- I will disappoint my parents, who are paying for my education.
- I will have trouble getting along with my roommate.
- I will get lost on campus and be late for important classes.
- I will choose a major that is not suited to my skills or interests.
- My homesickness will adversely affect my habits.
- I will have trouble understanding professors.
- Other students will see me as a boring person.
- I will be too shy to speak up in and out of class.
- I will be tempted to cheat to get good grades.
- I will not be as sophisticated as other freshmen.
