Mrs. G. loves MBC! As a student, she served as a Senator, Resident Advisor, Chairwoman of Religious Life, Sophomore Class President, President’s Society member and Student Government President. She graduated in 1980 with a major in mathematics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon.
Originally from Martinsville, Virginia, she has deep North Carolina roots and received her MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a firm believer in the liberal arts as preparation for the world – her jobs have included Senior Internal Auditor at Union Pacific Corporation, Vice President for Cash Management Customer Service at a large regional bank and Administrator at a 5 physician Urology practice in South Carolina.
Mrs. G. came back to MBC in 2000 as the Executive Director of Alumnae/i and Parent Relations having served 10 years of the Alumnae/i Association Board of Directors. She also served as Executive Assistant to President Fox before coming to Student Life.
She lives around the corner and is known for her spaghetti dinners, buttery bread and brownies. Her husband is a Business Coach and she has two sons – Matthew, 15, a rising sophomore at Asheville School and Mac, 20, a rising junior at Davidson College. Mrs. G. is an active member and elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church, President of the Rotary Club of Staunton-Augusta and a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. In her spare time, she loves to garden and play with her 3 cats and is learning to knit! Her nicknames and “Campus Mom” and the “Nuttiest Squirrel” and is available with hugs, chocolate and advice!
