Spencer Society

Will you answer the call?

What is Spencer Society Select?
Spencer Society Select is a group of talented students who staff our annual Phonathon. Throughout the school year, members of the team call thousands of alumnae/i to keep them up to date about the exciting things happening at Mary Baldwin College and to give them the opportunity to show their loyalty to their alma mater by providing financial support to the college.

What is the mission of Spencer Society Select?
Our mission is to call alumnae/i, friends and parents to ask them to participate in the Annual Fund at Mary Baldwin College. Raising money is one purpose of each call, but not the only one. We work hard to build strong, positive relationships with MBC alumnae/i, parents and friends. In this way, callers act as fundraisers and ambassadors to Mary Baldwin’s alumnae/i, parents of current and former students, and friends of the college.

Why does Mary Baldwin ask for support?
Net tuition dollars cover only about half of what it really costs to operate MBC for an entire school year. The Annual Fund helps to cover the remaining costs. Making phone calls offers a personal touch between donors and current students.

For more information, please see the Annual Fund page or click here for more reasons to give!

Our Goal:
Thank you to all who supported the Annual Fund last year! This year, we must do even better and raise $150,000 for the MBC Annual Fund. If you are on campus and meet members of Spencer Society Select, thank them for the important work they do for the college and their fellow students, and ask them why they love being a part of the Phonathon! They are likely to tell you that it’s exciting to talk with alumnae/i and even more satisfying to know their gifts are making a real difference.

What is the Spencer Society Select motto?
Smile when you dial!
