Interlibrary Loan
If you need a book or journal article that is not owned by the library, contact us
and we'll request it for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This service
is limited to current Mary Baldwin College students, faculty, and staff.
Please check the Online Catalog first; we cannot order items that we
already own.
You may send your requests to us in the following ways:
Electronic Request Forms
E-Mail*: mbayonet@mbc.edu
Fax*: 540-887-7297
* If you send a request by e-mail or fax, be sure to include:
- complete bibliographic citations (e.g. title, author, source, date...)
- your name and MBC ID#
- an address, phone number, or e-mail address so we can contact you
Delivery time—While most ILL items arrive within
5-10 business days, there are no guarantees on delivery time. The best
way to insure the timely procurement of your needed resources is to order
as far in advance as possible—as soon as you know you will need
them. If you no longer need a book or article that has not arrived, please
contact the ILL department to cancel your request.
Pick up—Once the material arrives at Grafton,
we forward it to you. Books can be picked up at the circulation desk.
When possible, we will forward ILL articles by e-mail. The average loan
period set by lending libraries is 4-6 weeks and items tend to be non-renewable.
If you would like to request a renewal, you must do so at least 5 days
before the due date.
Returns—As with all library books, it is important
to return ILL material on time. The continuation of our reciprocal borrowing
agreements with other libraries depends on the responsibility of our
patrons—you! If hours do not permit you to return your ILL items
at the circulation desk, please use the drop box to the right of Grafton’s
main entrance. Overdue fines accrue at the same rate for ILL books as
for the books of our own collection.
Contact—For any questions, please call Megan Bayonet at 540-887-7317, or email to mbayonet@mbc.edu.
