College of Health Sciences

In June 2014, Mary Baldwin College plans to open the doors to its College of Health Sciences, welcoming students into new co-educational, graduate degree programs and signaling MBC's entry into a rewarding field of study that is poised for future expansion.

Three degree programs have been proposed to meet the growing demand of qualified applicants: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), which the college plans to launch in 2014; and the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program to follow in 2015.

Students in these programs will have the advantage of learning in a new, state-of-the-art facility to be constructed within one of the region's vital medical services hubs. The Goose Creek Campus in Fishersville, Virginia, will be located within a one-mile radius of Augusta Health, Augusta Free Clinic, University of Virginia Health System clinics, Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, and several senior care facilities. Nearby residential development will give students the opportunity to live, work, and learn in the same community.

Mary Baldwin will initiate the appropriate processes for each program to become accredited and expects that students will graduate from accredited programs.

The establishment of the College of Health Sciences is in keeping with the successful evolution of Mary Baldwin College throughout its 170-year history. The program will complement the college's liberal arts and sciences tradition, reflect our dedication to public service, and enrich our mission of nurturing confident, compassionate changemakers.
