for Inquiry Teaching and Cooperative Learning
The Kitty Green and Hobart Jones Scholarship for Inquiry Teaching
and Cooperative Learning honors the couple who inspired it and contributed
generously to the fund that provides it. Green, who earned an MAT at
Mary Baldwin in 2000 after a remarkable business career, considered
her all-too-brief stint as a teacher the most rewarding experience
in her life. She died of ovarian cancer in 2002.
APPLICANTS FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP MUST BE FULL-TIME STUDENTS
IN THE MAT PROGRAM
If you think you meet the following criteria, please let me know of
your interest in this opportunity.
- A career
changer with a minimum of 5 years in a career other
than education
- Demonstrate
a passion for inquiry based and cooperative learning
in the public schools
- Financial
need
- Expect
to teach PK - 8 in the public schools
Applicants should submit an essay on "The Value of Inquiry Based Teaching
and Cooperative Learning" to the MAT Office by April 21. A faculty committee will review the
applicants and the award will be made prior to the end of the semester.
