MBC’s Much-Anticipated Sunday Recital Series Begins

Mary Baldwin College’s Sunday Recital Series begins with flutist Angela Kelly and pianist Lise Keiter-Brotzman on Sunday, September 10. The concert will feature works by Poulenc, Prokofiev, and American composer Gary Schocker.

Angela Kelly has spent more than a decade as a professional flutist, performing and teaching throughout the East Coast. She is an accomplished soloist and orchestral player with an extensive list of credits that include performances with The Virginia Consort, the Greenwich Symphony, and Greenwich Choral Society, as well as Bach Aria Festival Orchestra, Musica Antiqua, and others. In addition to maintaining a full private studio, Kelly recently joined the faculty of Mary Baldwin College.

Pianist Lise Keiter-Brotzman has performed nationwide and is active as a solo recitalist, collaborative artist, and soloist with orchestra. Keiter-Brotzman joined the faculty at Mary Baldwin College in the fall of 1998 and is currently the chair of the music department. She is active locally, serving on the boards of the Valley Symphonic Concerts and the Waynesboro Community Orchestra, and as chair for the Thursday Morning Music Club Scholarship Competition.

Originally from Illinois, Keiter-Brotzman earned a bachelor of music from Oberlin Conservatory, a master’s and doctorate of music at Indiana University, where she also received the Award for Outstanding Teaching.

The performance will be at 3 p.m. on March in Mary Baldwin College’s Francis Auditorium at the corner of Coalter and Frederick streets, Staunton.
