A New Partnership in Bloom
Dr. Minoru Koide (right), director of the International Affairs Office at Soka University in Tokyo, met with Mary Baldwin College officials this week to discuss a new, bilateral student exchange partnership — which could become the sixth such relationship that MBC has formed with institutions of higher learning around the world. Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Catharine O’Connell and Professor of Asian Studies Daniel Métraux — whose research helped facilitate contact between the schools — plan to visit Soka later this month to finalize a preliminary agreement. With a student population of 8,500, Soka University is a comprehensive, private institution with 106 partner universities around the world, including College of Charleston, Morehouse College, and University of Miami.
