MBC Presents Final Sunday Recital Series Concert
Mary Baldwin College presents the final Sunday Recital Series performance of the season Sunday, April 3. Pianists Linda Gamble Heuer and Eloise Kornicke will take the stage for an afternoon of four-hand music featuring works by well-known composers Bach, Schubert, and Faure, along with pieces by Casella, Mignone, Kornicke, and Gould.
Heuer and Kornicke are both active as music educators and performers. Heuer was a member of the music faculty at Mary Baldwin for many years, accompanying numerous vocal and instrumental recitals, as well as the Mary Baldwin College Choir. She has also served as an accompanist at George Mason University. She currently maintains a private studio as a piano teacher and vocal coach and has worked with award-winning pianists, accompanists, and singers. She has also toured Germany, Scandinavia, and Leningrad with the “Youth for Understanding” Wind Ensemble. She holds degrees from University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.
Kornicke teaches at Mary Baldwin College and is also the director of music at Fishersville United Methodist Church. In addition, she maintains a large private studio and has had many award-winning students. She has performed throughout the region, including the Sunday Recital Series at Mary Baldwin and Summer Music/Bible Conferences in Massanetta. She has also lectured widely on duet literature, sight-reading, and physiology. She holds degrees from Indiana University and Biola University in California.
The recital is at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3 in Francis Auditorium in the Pearce Science Center, 227 East Frederick Street, Staunton. Tickets may be purchased at the door and are $5 for the general public and $4 for seniors and non-MBC students. For more information, call 540-887-7294.
