‘That’s Just Wrong’: Students Protest Teen’s Killing
Mary Baldwin College students joined thousands of voices around the United States recently to protest the killing of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed teenager who was shot to death in Florida neighborhood.
“We are bringing attention, making noise, and letting the government know that we will not stand for this injustice,” student Quiana Robinson was quoted in The News Leader. “When someone looks suspicious just because of their race, it is unacceptable.”
Students and members of the broader community protested on Page Terrace in front of Grafton Library. The March 22 rally was organized by the Black Student Alliance at Mary Baldwin College.
