Good morning.

Commencement will be held on Page Terrace as scheduled this morning at 10 a.m.

In making the decision to hold the ceremony outdoors on campus despite the iffy weather, President Fox kept in mind the strong preference of the Class of 2013.

Family and friends attending today's ceremony should use their best judgment regarding rain gear. Since the grassy hillside could be slippery should it become wet, we encourage guests to wear appropriate footwear and as always exercise appropriate caution.

Congratulations to all those who will receive their degrees today, and deepest thanks to all the family and friends whose support helped them along the way.

Another Top Local Chef to Visit Campus

Melissa Close Hart

It has only been six months since lunch goers in Hunt Dining Hall at Mary Baldwin College were treated to the savory and locally sourced amuse-bouche from Zynodoa Executive Chef James Harris during the college’s observation of Sustainability Day. This Friday, the dining hall will again welcome a top-flight local chef as Melissa Close Hart from Palladio Restaurant in Barboursville helps MBC mark World Food Day. “It’s a special treat for MBC,” said Michael Clay, executive chef at MBC. World Food Day, observed annually in October, is sponsored annually by the United Nations to bring awareness to issues of food security. On the menu in Hunt is white balsamic braised chicken with fennel, carrots and sweet onions; Parmesan polenta with rosemary; sautéed escarole with red pepper flakes; and orange olive oil cake with orange caramel.
